This is a view over the Mt. Jumbo 'saddle' looking roughly east up the Clark Fork River. The University of Montana (in the previous picture) is to the right, at the mouth of the Rattlesnake Valley in the foreground.

On the right side of the picture the trees are clearly growing in horizontal lines as a result of soil differences due to the Glacial Lake Missoula shore lines. On the left more subtle shore lines are visible.

If you are interested in a spectacular hike the city trails provide easy access to the saddle. On the hike and from the top you will see many intersting Glacial Lake Missoula features and landscapes. At the top you will stand in the empty channel of a stream that flowed through the saddle long before the last ice age.

For the less adventurous the road on the west side of the valley and a stop at the high parking lot below the saddle will provide ample opportunity to see many of the same features.
